Five months in Australia flew past. We didn’t see or do everything, but it would take a lifetime to do that! Here, in pictures, are some of the highlights and a bit of a breakdown of the route we took.
As you drive along the Captain Cook Highway from Cairns towards Port Douglas you already know you are in for a treat at Hartleys Crocodile Farm. The drive is considered to be one of the best coastal drives in Australia, as you pass by perfect beaches and beautiful greenery it’s easy to see why. This is the perfect place for Hartleys Crocodile farm, nestled among the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
Following a night at The Flying Monkey Backpackers we decided we’d be staying somewhere else for our week in Cairns. After a lot of digging and researching we can across the slightly more expensive Oasis Inn. We were tired from a terrible nights sleep and worried we might end up somewhere just the same but with a higher price tag!
After an amazing time in Melbourne and a quick visit to Sydney, and with winter beginning to settle in, we decided it was time to take our adventure north and booked a flight to Cairns. We took the shuttle bus from the airport and were dropped at the Esplanade and headed to our hostel for the night, Flying Monkey Backpackers.
